NL Productions secures contract to deliver Dundee’s Christmas Village
NL Productions, a Scottish event production company, has been awarded the contract opportunity to deliver Dundee’s Christmas Village for the next three years.
This development promises to bring festive magic to the heart of the city, offering a vibrant celebration that will engage the local community and attract visitors from far and wide.
After a competitive tender process, NL Productions have been awarded the contract for 2024 to run Dundee’s Christmas Village. The contract will run for further years until Christmas 2026.
Earlier this year Dundee City Council announced they were looking to partner with a professional event management company to run the festive attraction in December.
Building on years of experience in delivering high-quality events, NL Productions aims to create a Christmas Village that reflects Dundee’s rich cultural heritage while also showcasing innovative and engaging entertainment. The event is set to feature a mix of traditional festive attractions, and family-friendly activities, all designed to spread festive cheer and foster a sense of community.
The Christmas Village will be designed to appeal to all ages, offering something for everyone. The centrepiece is a 10m x 20m real ice rink where visitors can glide into the festive season. The Christmas Market will showcase local traders and caterers, offering unique gifts and seasonal treats. Families can enjoy a funfair with a variety of thrilling rides, while children will be enchanted by the immersive and magical Santa Experience. The village will be illuminated with stunning lighting and effects, creating a festive atmosphere, and a series of events throughout the season will ensure there’s something special for everyone to enjoy.
Jonathan Brown from NL Productions, said: “NL Productions are delighted to have been awarded the contract to operate the Dundee Christmas Village. We have a lot of exciting ideas and cannot wait to share them with everyone.
“We are dedicated to delivering an event that the city can be proud of, and which focuses on both quality and value for money. Our aim is to create an event that not only captivates and delights visitors but also brings significant benefits to the city of Dundee.
“We believe in the power of community-focused events to strengthen local ties and boost the local economy, and we are committed to ensuring that this year’s Christmas Village does exactly that.”
NL Productions plans to work closely with local businesses, and community groups to ensure that the event truly reflects the spirit of Dundee. By incorporating local vendors into the Christmas Village, NL Productions will create an inclusive event that supports the city’s economy and provides a platform for local enterprises to shine. With a focus on sustainability, NL Productions is also committed to minimising the environmental impact of the event, ensuring that it aligns with Dundee’s vision for a green and vibrant future.
Councillor Steven Rome, Dundee City Council convener of Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure, added: “The council is working hard to transform Dundee city centre, and we are well aware that Christmas is an extremely important time for our retail and hospitality sectors.
“While the Dundee Hooley has become established as a highlight of the city’s successful kick-start to the festive season, the Christmas Village will add to the experience and attract families, visitors and shoppers into the centre for a sustained period.
“We look forward to working with NL Productions on this venture.”
This year’s Christmas Village is expected to attract thousands of visitors, providing a boost to local businesses and contributing to the city’s economy during the festive season. By delivering a high-quality, memorable event, NL Productions aims to position Dundee as a top destination for Christmas festivities in Scotland.
Further details of Dundee’s Christmas Village 2024, including key dates and featured attractions, will be announced in the coming months.
For NL Productions, Dundee’s Christmas Village will top off an incredibly busy conclusion to 2024, which includes the delivery of Castle of Light at Edinburgh Castle.
