Lanarkshire firm OPG wins slew of national contracts as it targets record turnover
Lesmahagow-based fleet vehicle graphics firm, OPG, is on track to increase turnover by 40% following continued business growth since a management buy-out (MBO) in late 2022.
OPG’s primary focus is the design and production of branding and wraps for vehicles, working with household names across industries including food and drink, retail, corporate, logistics, construction, transport and the public sector.
Enabled by funding support from Tata Steel subsidiary, UKSE, the MBO saw Allan Hamilton appointed as Managing Director. Under his leadership, OPG has gone on to secure a raft of new client wins and extend existing contracts, including customers such as McDonalds, Greggs, Enviro-Clean, OVO and Amazon.
This growth has seen OPG become the national supplier to Warburtons, providing a mixture of corporate branding, campaign messaging and product promotion across their distinctive orange fleet.
A recent investment of more than £250,000 has also enabled the team to purchase new state-of-the-art equipment which will enhance their operations and double production capacity. Modifications to their HQ at Milton Industrial Estate in Lesmahagow have also been completed to allow space for the new equipment and further investment in production technology and IT infrastructure is planned for 2025.
OPG currently has 22 members of staff in management, design, production, administration and field operation roles and plans to welcome three new team members over the next 12 months. Investment into its current team is also important to the firm, with dedicated training and upskilling programmes made available to all staff.
Lanarkshire-local Allan started his career as an apprentice at OPG. After going on to pursue a successful career within the wider industry, Allan now manages the business alongside Stuart Ritchie and Tristan Harrold as Commercial and Financial Director, and Operations & Technical Director respectively.
Allan Hamilton, managing director at OPG, said: “I am incredibly proud of the sustained growth trajectory OPG has enjoyed since the MBO completed in 2022 as we target one of our most successful years to date. Importantly, this gives us the confidence to invest in new equipment that will increase our production capacity while still ensuring we provide the best-in-class customer service we are known for.
“UKSE has been by our side since day one. Their support has allowed us to go on to achieve record success and we now look forward to 2025 and beyond, building on this strong foundation.”
Scott Webb, regional manager at UKSE, said: “UKSE is rooted in supporting businesses diversify and thrive, and OPG is testament to this. The new management team has steered OPG into its most successful period to date and we’re pleased to have played a role in helping shape the future of the business.”
