Pipeline isolation and intervention technology specialist STATS Group has appointed Angus Bowie to the new position of chief technology officer.

Mr Bowie joined STATS in Aberdeen in 2003 and since 2012 has been based in Abu Dhabi, where he served as technical director and most recently regional director for the Middle East.

In his new global role, Mr Bowie will spearhead innovation and product development initiatives across the company and will collaborate closely with engineering director Doug Krokosz to leverage STATS’ deep pool of technical talent and long history of bringing industry-leading technology to the pipeline market.

An accomplished design engineer with over two decades of experience at STATS, Mr Bowie will establish a dedicated global development team to accelerate new solutions, while protecting and enhancing the company’s valuable intellectual property.

Stephen Rawlinson, CEO of STATS Group, said: “Angus’s vision and expertise have been critical drivers of our success over many years. This new leadership position cements innovation as a core tenet of our growth strategy, ensuring we continue solving the industry’s most pressing pipeline challenges.”

As a prolific inventor, Mr Bowie has numerous patents to his name, including STATS’ revolutionary BISEP® technology which transformed the hot tapping and line stop isolation market.

He said: “I’m delighted to take on this strategic, yet hands-on role, developing the next generation of client-centric solutions that make energy infrastructure safer and give our clients more efficient and more environmentally responsible options than what’s currently available in the market.

“STATS’ success is largely the result of listening to our clients and helping them solve their pipeline challenges through innovative technical solutions, and this role further enables us to continue this industry leadership.”
